In this paper, you will need to write a “position paper that takes a stand” on an issue. Please choose two of the following three essays.   After reading all three texts, your task is to decide upon a specific issue that unites two of the texts. Then, you will build an argument. <br><br>

So, you will begin by summarizing one text in your first paragraph; the text you discuss in paragraph one will be your “primary text.”  Next, you will identify a key issue that is significant in the primary text and you will bring the other essay into your discussion to either complicate the information delivered by the first essay or to reinforce it. <br><br>

At the end of the second paragraph, after discussing the second text in relation to the first, you will need to <b>offer an argument (or a “claim,” or a thesis). </b> Throughout the rest of the body of your essay, following this statement, you will give examples to support these claims.  Your examples should be drawn from the two essays and may be supplemented with examples from common experience/cultural knowledge. <br><br>

We will discuss “arguments in the classical style” in class; you will begin working with this information in this essay. <br><br>

This essay must be four pages in length. Please quote from the two essays in MLA style. Quote from each at least twice and be sure to introduce each one before you quote. Include a Works Cited page as page five. <br><br><br><br>
