Drawing upon the understanding you gained of the complexity of the “smoking in public places” issues from Paper One, explore the problem further and make a claim. Your essay will develop into a modified “summary/strong response” essay, like the one you read in Chapter Six of Allyn and Bacon (written by Sean Barry, pg 130-132). Using Barry’s essay as a model, pose a strong response to either a) Florence King’s essay “I’d Rather Smoke than Kiss” (AB pg. 142-147) or b) the advertisement “Welcome to Marlboro Country” by Adbusters.org (AB 148). Your new essay will need to be four to five pages long.
