Julianne Newmark, Ph.D.
The University of New Mexico

I teach Technical & Professional Communication (TPC) and multi-ethnic American literature, with a focus on early-20th-century Native American activist writing. As a TPC teacher-scholar, I study school-to-work transition, multimodal community-creation in online classrooms, and usability/user-centered design. I received a 2017 CCCC/NCTE Emergent Research Grant for my book project "Reports of Agency: Retrieving Indigenous Professional Communication in Indian Bureau Documents, 1902-1916." My 2015 book The Pluralist Imagination from East to West in American Literature was published by University of Nebraska Press. Since 2002, I have been editor of Xchanges, a Writing Studies ejournal.
